Record correction and removal

OpenPermits republishes public building permits, contractor licenses, parcel details and zoning decisions. If a record about you or your property is wrong, or contains personal information that shouldn't be there, tell us and we'll fix it.

What we can do

• Remove personal informationfrom a record (a name or phone number in a description, for example). We already leave out owner and applicant names and residents' phone numbers.
• Correct our mistakes, such as a permit matched to the wrong address or contractor.
• Suppress a record where there is a legal or safety reason, including for people protected by address-confidentiality programs.

Where the issuing jurisdiction's own record is wrong, the lasting fix is to have them correct it; our next crawl then picks the correction up. We'll tell you which office published the record.

How to ask

Email data@openpermits.ai with:

• the permit number or a link to the record (or the property address);
• what is wrong or what you want removed, and why;
• how we can reach you. We may ask you to confirm that you own or live at the property.

We aim to answer within five business days and to act on valid requests within ten. Removed personal information also stops appearing in API responses, exports and alerts from then on; we can't recall copies customers already downloaded, but our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy limit what they may do with them.
